Teach First is an independent charity which seeks to address educational disadvantage by encouraging talented graduates to commit to teaching in a challenging urban secondary school for two years, whilst gaining a PGCE and leadership training along the way, with the potential to also study towards a Masters. There is incredible scope for fundamentally changing the way subjects are perceived and taught in schools where many pupils just do not have access to a quality education within them, or the individuals with the passion and talent to engage them. Teach First gives graduates 6 weeks of intensive training before placing them into a school. The challenge is certainly tough, but the rewards and potential to make a difference are high! Teach First is now in its 7th year, having been awarded 8th place in the Times Top 100 list of graduate employers, and is now seeking 650 graduates to join in June 2010.
