About Loughborough Student Rag

Rag is quite simply the best opportunity for you as a student, to make the world a better place, whilst quite literally having the time of your life.

Loughborough Students Rag is a non-profit organisation and everything we raise goes to various charities, be they of your own choice if you have one close to heart, or to local charities in the Charnwood area. We do this by collecting money on the streets, running the famous Rag Bonfire Extravaganza, marathons, even by climbing up mountains and throwing ourselves out of planes. The choice is endless, and we always welcome new and fresh ideas if you have any.

We are the largest student fundraising organisation in the country. Last year we managed to raise just shy of £1 million for local and national charities, and each year we continue to surpass all expectations. We manage this exceptional feat only through the help of you, our volunteers. If you haven’t yet been involved, it won’t be long before a Rag rep, or even a friend drags you along to an event or raid. Once you have the bug, you will see why so many people are so passionate about what we do, and strive to do the same.

Rag is not all about raising money however; it’s about student involvement and enjoyment and gives you the opportunity to do your bit, even when you’re scraping around your bank overdraft limit after a formidable fresher’s week, and best of all it doesn’t have to cost you anything. Anyone is welcome in the office, so come up and give it a go, what’s the worst that can happen? .. You change someone’s life?

In the last 6 years LS Rag has raised just shy of £4 million for local and national charities and last year we managed to raise a staggering £974,048.09, once again stomping all over the old record. This year we are going to try and smash the record out of the ball park and push for that ever close £1 Million!!!
